A very broad variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are provided to support pupils’ well-being. The voice of pupils is effectively promoted through an active pupil council and a Green Schools committee. Responses to questionnaires administered during the evaluation indicated that most pupils like school and feel safe there

Welcome to St. Mary's Boys’ School Monaghan where we provide a holistic education that nurtures the development of each individual child. Our school is  a spacious and modern facility that boasts a range of state-of-the-art facilities, including a gym, sports field, all-weather surface, handball court, specialist art room, computer room, Seomra Spraoi, outdoor classroom, four basketball courts and a soft surface playground. We are in the process of developing two new exciting spaces, our new central library and our state of the art Dome.

We believe that learning should be fun, engaging, and innovative and we implement a range of approaches to teaching that cater to the diverse needs of all of our pupils.

Our teachers are highly skilled and dedicated professionals who are committed to delivering high-quality instruction that inspires curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

At St. Mary's, we understand the importance of physical activity and its positive impact on health and well-being. Our sports facilities are second to none, providing ample opportunities for our pupils to engage in a range of activities. We have a fully equipped gym and sports field that can accommodate a range of sporting events, as well as an all-weather playing surface, a handball court and a mini football court. We also have an activity trail in our school grounds.

Our specialist art room is a space where our pupils can explore their creative side and express themselves through a range of artistic media. We also have a dedicated computer room where our students can learn about technology and its application in the modern world.

We have a covered outdoor classroom, an open outdoor classroom and a Seomra Spraoi where our students can learn through play and exploration. Our four basketball courts and handball court are popular spots for our pupils to engage in friendly competition and hone their skills.

We are proud of our innovative approaches to teaching, which include project-based learning, in class support, team teaching, collaborative learning with other schools in the primary and secondary sectors and peer-to-peer learning. We believe that these methods help to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment that inspires our pupils to achieve their full potential.
